The Life of Alzada Pearl

Alzada Pearl, 89, of Hugo passed away December 27, 2021. Funeral services are set for 2:00 pm Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the District Building in Hugo, Oklahoma with Rev. Arthur Jefferson serving as eulogist and the Rev. Charles Wallace, officiant. Interment will follow to Mt. Olive Cemetery under direction of Alberta Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Friday January 7th from 6 - 7 pm at Alberta Funeral Home.

Sis. Alzada Pearl was born on March 23, 1932 in Valliant, Oklahoma to the late Cleveland and Hannah Young.  She accepted Christ at an early age at Russell Chapel Church.  She united in marriage with Herman Pearl in 1949.  She served at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for many years as a church clerk.  Later, she joined The New Olive Baptist Church.  On New Year’s Eve of 2020, she joined the Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles E. Wallace, Sr.  where she served faithfully until her passing. 

She worked at The Golden Age Nursing Home for 23 years.  Mrs.  Pearl was well known for sitting outside on her porch watching the word go by while waving and talking to many friends and family members that would occasionally stop by.  She always had such a beautiful yard full of flowers.  She loved to travel with her church family and most importantly, she enjoyed visiting her sisters and brothers and flying to Arizona to visit a very dear cousin. 

Alzada Pearl was preceded in death by four children, Loyce Pearl, Earnest Pearl, Lonnie Jo Pearl, and one female child who died in infancy.  She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Leroy Young, Dan Young, James “Toe” Young, Charles Young, and Arthur C. Young.  One sister, Loretta Young and four siblings who died at birth.

Alzada leaves to cherish her memory:

Daughter:  Ola McCarty of Hugo, Oklahoma.

Sons:  Lloyd Pearl, Wallace Pearl (Yolanda), Dennis Pearl (Jacqueline) and Glenn Pearl all of Hugo, Oklahoma. 

She also leaves to cherish her memory:

Sisters:  Lavada Johnson, Mary Lee Cumby, Eva May Garrett, Virginia Hubert, Vivian Young, Lola McEwen, Ann Drake (Eugene), Marshal Young, Lois Gene Young, Rosie Dawson (Robert) .

Brother:  Robert Young (Doris).

Also, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
