Bettie Jewell Johnson

Mrs Bettie J. Johnson was born to the parentage of Lewis Hurd and Carrie Mae Burks on December 27,1927 in Clarksville Texas.

    She united with St  Paul UMC at an early age, where  she served faithfully in several different positions over the span of several years, (decades). She graduated Cheatham High Scholl at the age of sixteen. After graduation she attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. 

    She was united in marriage to Mr. Frank D. Johnson in 1947, and to this union six children were born, one daughter preceded her in death, followed by her parents, and other siblings. Also her husband of 72 years preceded her in death. 

    She was a stay-at-home mother for several years until her youngest child was school age.  She did domestic work in homes and area businesses until she was hired by the CISD (Clarksville Independent School District) as a Teacher-Aide, where she worked until her retirement age.  Bettie loved spending time with family, friends and acquaintances.

    Those left to cherish her memories: Son: Frank (Elaine) Johnson Jr. of Richardson Texas.  Daughters: Carol (William) of Clarksville, Texas, Benita George of Waianae, Hawaii, Tevis Ricks of Clarksville Texas, and Natalie Turner of Dallas, Texas.  11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 5 great- great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 1 adopted brother, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends
