Betty Young Obituary

Betty Margaret Young, 87, of Roxton entered eternal rest on January 9, 2024. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Rocky Ford Baptist Church where the Rev. Marco Jones serves as pastor. Maxey Funeral Home will conduct the interment in Rocky Ford Cemetery.

Betty Margaret Rhone

Betty Young was the 2nd oldest of 8 Children to Naomi and Rola Rhone, who both preceded her in death. Betty grew up in the city of Roxton, Texas, and she never left the community. At an early age she joined the Rocky Ford Baptist Church where she was a charter member until the Lord called her home on January 9, 2024.

Betty was an alumnus of H.G. Smith High School. In her 12th grade year Betty married Charles (Sonny) Young, to this union 3 children were born Shirley, Rolla, and Tammy. Betty was a pillar in the community of Roxton. She worked at Roxton Independent School District for over 45 Years until she retired. She worked for KBA for several years and retired from there 5 years ago. She worked at the 82 Truck Stop as a cook for many years serving Truckers traveling across the country. Betty was known for her good cooking and working with the Church in the kitchen for many years. She was one of the Mothers of Rocky Ford Baptist Church. Betty was nominated for the Hometown Hero in 2012 by The Roxton ISD Trustee Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles (Sonny) Young and eight siblings: Toye Kines, Robert Rhone, Doris Bennett, Paulene Dismuke, Glenda Wright, Maelene Taylor, Cornelious Rhone, and Rola Rhone Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters and one son, Shirley Butler of Desoto, Texas, Rolla (Pam) Young of Sherman, Texas, Tammy Williams of Lancaster, Texas; two grandchildren, Randy (Dawn) Williams Jr. of Lancaster, Texas and Tayla Williams of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kaya, Randy III, Landon, and Karter Williams; one sister, Charlene Campbell, Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
