Dorothy Hooker

Dorothy Hooker, 72, of Paris entered eternal rest on July 30, 2023. Funeral services are set for 11:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2023., at New Salem Baptist Church. Interment will follow to Fairland Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.

Dorothy Hooker, born to the parentage of Wayne McCarty and Rosa Rivers, was a very sweet lady, having a great love for sewing and will be truly missed.

Having worked at St. Joseph Hospital for twenty-seven years until retiring in 2013, she was honored with numerous awards.     

Preceding her in death were her mother, Rosa Dell Rivers (McCarty) and father, Wayne McCarty; sister, Minnie Jackson; brother, Thurman McCarty, and husband, Thomas “Sonny” Jackson.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Marcus Hooker, Paris, Texas; daughter, Shenikawa Jackson, Dallas, Texas; sister, Glenda Fay Alberty, Sulphur Springs, Texas and brothers, Welton McCarty, Indio, California; Theotha Patterson, Hugo, Oklahoma, and Richard McCarty, Paris, Texas.

Grandchildren, Devarious Battle (Samantha Woods Battle), Paris, Texas; Patrick Wise (Kourtney Wise), Paris, Texas; Measha Wise (Byron Finney), Paris, Texas, Tempestt Thompson, Markecia Hooker, Marcus Hooker, Jr., and Suraya Jackson.  

Twenty-five Great Grandchildren, best friend, Sharon Gordon; two special friends, Mickey Wise, and Tera Durham; two special nieces, Patricia Alexander and Pansy Pitts, and a host of other nieces and nephews.
