Funeral services for Sister Genola Wallace-Fisher are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Her remains will lie in state from 10:00 am until funeral time. The Rev. Harold Dangerfield will serve as eulogist and the Rev. Gary Savage, pastor. Interment will follow to Restlawn Garden Cemetery.
Sister Genola Wallace Fisher was born on June 5,1948 to the late Vernon and Lettie B Wallace. She was
the 3rd of eleven children. On Thursday, September 7, 2023, at approximately 9:05 pm, Genola entered
eternal rest. At an early age, Genola accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and continued to serve
faithfully in her Christian calling until death.
On December 29, 1978, Genola was united in matrimony to the late Billy Fisher. Her union with Billy
was blessed with three handsome sons. Genola and Billy lived in unity with a strong love for each other,
a mission to keep Christ first in their home, and a charge to raise strong young men. The two of them
were inseparable and were loved by many in the community.
Genola worked at Phillip Lighting for numerous years. Upon retirement, she was employed with Wal-
Mart and was known by many for her beautiful smile and encouragement as a cashier. In July 2020, she retired from Wal-Mart. She then lived her remaining years serving in her church, community and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Genola was well known for her love of singing and hours upon hours of phone conversations with her sisters and being a sweet fragrance to any situation.
She is survived by her sons, Ron Fisher (Vicky) of McKinney, TX, Tarsay Fisher of Paris, TX, Brian Fisher
(Shaniqua Hicks) of Fresno, CA and a special daughter, Arlene Robinson of Waxahachie, TX; six brothers,
Vernon Wallace Jr. (Shirley) of Albuquerque, NM, Charles Wallace (Nita), Charlie Ray of Paris, TX, Buster
Hearne (Cheryl) of Pflugerville, TX, Robert “Blimp” Wallace (Rose Ann) and Billie Wayne of Paris, TX; five
sisters, Dorothy Hailey of Paris, TX, Betty Walker (Reginald) of Oklahoma City, OK, Rita Wallace of Paris,
TX, Carolyn Rutledge (Will Brooks) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Paula Wortham (Mike) of Paris, TX; special
friend and neighbors, O. J. and Dollie Fulbright of Paris, TX and numerous grandchildren, a host of
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
