Katherine Hughes

Funeral Services for Katherine Hughes are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Paris New Generation Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Restlawn Garden Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. She entered eternal rest on August 14, 2022.

Katherine Williams Hughes was born to the parentage of the late Booker T. Williams and Emma Oats on July 21, 1928, and accepted Christ at an early age. 

She received her education from the Lamar County School. Katherine worked for Paris Independent School District for seventeen years until her retirement. She then enjoyed life and was a friend to everyone. She enjoyed going to the Pshigoda Senior Citizen Center daily where she played dominos and met some friends. Katherine showed love wherever she went and carried herself always with dignity and had the sweetest spirit. 

Katherine united with Truevine Christian Church where she was a faithful and caring member and was the President of the Usher Board and a dedicated member of the Missionary Board. 

She married Leonard Hughes and to their union twelve children were born. Katherine was preceded in death by her lovable husband, Leonard, her parents Booker and Emma, sons Donald, Carey, John, Lamont Hughes, and a daughter Catherine Forooshani. Also, her siblings Emma Freeman, Lindy Stanly, Jesse White, Pauline Goree, Henry Williams, Vernell Oats, Mary Ann Crawford. She is survived by her children Leonard Hughes Jr. (Audrey Jean) of Paris, Tx, Glenn Hughes (Carolyn) of Paris, Tx, Michael Hughes (Valerie) of Lewisville/Highland Village, Tx, Janet Hughes of Paris, TX, Sybil Frazier (James) of Paris, Tx, Frances Woods (Bertram) Paris, Tx, Leah Richards (Bobby) Lewisville, Tx. Also, survived by brothers Richard Oats, Charles Oats, and sister Dorothy Hurst. She had twenty-two grandchildren, a plethora of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also had a host of bonus children and grandchildren.
