Olivia (Hardison) Johnson came into this world on November 18, 1943, in Lamar County, to the late Douglas and Mettie Hardison as one of six children.

Olivia grew up in Marvin and graduated from B. J. Graves as the Valedictorian of her class. She attended Jarvis Christian College and received her Business Degree from the Grand Business School. Olivia participated in civic activities such as voting and housing. She assisted graduating high school seniors with obtaining college scholarships.

She is survived by five children, three whose father is Oscar Johnson, whom she met and married. Having accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, Olivia served as a member of the Hospitality Church of God in Christ where she sang in the choir and served as Youth Director. She also sang in the Community Choir and Sounds of Glory. She loved sports and could hold an interesting conversation about any sport. Known as the “Bag Lady,” she collected clothes, shoes, coats, school supplies and backpacks to give to the less fortunate, also distributing to the less fortunate.  Olivia would distribute toys to the unfortunate children at Christmas. She would also fill handbags with women toiletries and then taken to the Salvation Army for them to distribute to women who were in need.
